History

Shiloh Church traces its beginning to June 1988 when Bishop Leroy Hodapp appointed Rev. Steve Seitz to a ten acre field on the westside of Jasper with instructions to plant a church.  Here is a little more info about where we’ve been.

  • June 4th, 1989 – Shiloh United Methodist Church was officially chartered with a congregation of approx. 50 members
  • April 22, 1990 – Shiloh held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new church building
  • November 4, 1990 – The first worship service was held in the newly completed building.
  • June 5th, 1994 – A second service was added because of the increasing size of the congregation.
  • January 1996 – The first building expansion project began doubling the size of the building.
  • June 9th, 1996 – The congregation worshiped for the first time in the newly expanded sanctuary.
  • July 10th, 1999 – Shiloh held its first Saturday night contemporary worship service, originally called ‘The Connection.’
  • November 14th, 1999 -the congregation celebrated with another ground breaking ceremony to commence Phase I of another building expansion program.  The facility, again, doubled in size and twelve acres of adjoining land was purchased.
